Although ceramic coatings have been around for a couple of decades now, there is still a lot of miss-information out there as they have become more popular in the automative industry. While there is plenty of education available for the professional (trainings, conventions, networking, etc), things are pretty all over the place for the consumer. I constantly see cases of someone purchasing a "ceramic coating" from a big box retail store, applying it to their vehicle and saying that it was ceramic coated. What they actually ended up doing was buying a $20 bottle of a ceramic infused detail spray which will simply make the water bead up on the surface for a month or so. Another trend I see is people misunderstanding the application process and thinking it's just a quick wipe on, wipe off process.
