The biggest difference in price comes in the prep of the vehicle for ceramic coating. You will receive an incredibly thorough wash and some level of paint correction.
Paint correction is a bulk of the cost and the most labor intensive part. You’re paying to have an expert make your paint look its absolute best before they install a ceramic coating. Every vehicle's paintwork is different and it takes a lot of experience and knowledge to know how to get the best result out of it. A light paint enhancement on a small vehicle could take a couple hours, while a full two-step paint correction on a large truck could take upwards of 12 hours.
It's also important to note that although the upfront cost of getting a ceramic coating is more expensive than a detail, it is actually cheaper in the long run since you won't need to reapply a wax every 3 months.
